  • Brief Bio

    Talita holds a MBL degree. She started her career in corporate, international companies as part of their sales and finance teams. From 2014 she pursued a career in academics and started as a lecturer at various academic institutions. Over the last 8 years, she obtained extensive experience in lecturing, content and material development, education management, quality assurance, curriculum development and academic programme accreditation. She is also developing a training program, focusing on leadership. 


    Talita is passionate about research in leadership and perspective, and is therefore also part of She Speaks SA, which is a platform for women to share their various perspectives about life and their journeys.

    Mathias: Leading the Faculty of Finance and Accounting


    Mathias brings a wealth of experience and a forward-thinking vision to his role as Head of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting at The IIE. Joining us on August 1st, 2023, he holds a BSc Honours in Economics and a master’s in finance and Investment.


    Combining over five years of industry expertise with a distinguished academic career spanning 15 years, Mathias possesses a proven track record of success. His journey began as a lecturer, followed by a steady progression through key roles such as Programme Coordinator, Head of Faculty, and ultimately Dean of Academics at Lyceum College. Throughout his academic tenure, he has developed a strong strategic acumen and demonstrated a passion for leadership.

    Beyond his traditional credentials, Mathias is a firm believer in harnessing technology to improve learning and teaching. However, he advocates for responsible technology use, that encompasses ethical considerations and addressing potential disparities that might arise.


    Aligned with The IIE's mission to inspire students through excellence in learning and teaching, scholarship, and community engagement, Mathias is committed to fostering the growth of the newly established Faculty of Finance and Accounting. He aims to cultivate a dynamic learning environment that equips students with the knowledge and skills to thrive in the ever-evolving financial landscape.

  • Brief Bio

    Bomkazi Hlwatika is a qualified Chartered Accountant of South Africa (CA)SA. She previously worked as an Audit Manager and has been involved in auditing of listed and non-listed entities. She completed her SAICA articles in January 2023.


    Her CA journey started in 2014 when she joined University of Fort Hare (UFH) coming straight from retail where she worked as a Goods Receiving Clerk at Spar in East London. She did her undergraduate and post graduate studies at the UFH and graduated in 2019 with her post graduate studies. She passed her 1st board exam - Initial Test of Competence (ITC) in 2019 and 2nd board exam - Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) in 2022.


    Bomkazi is not new to the academic industry, during her university years at the UFH she was involved in tutoring and mentoring accounting students through Fasset, thus in 2019 she was seconded to the UFH and did her academic articles where she was involved in lecturing, creation of assessments, marking of assessments and conducting tutorials. She also assisted the Senior Auditing and Accounting Lecturer in consultations with students which enhanced her passion in learning and development and mentoring of students.
